Renewed Holland beat China

With goals by Saskia Fuchs, in the 52nd minute, and Kim Lammers, seven minutes later, the vice Olympic champions Holland defeated China 2-0 in the opening match of the 12th women's Champions Trophy on Saturday at the Rosario's Jockey Club.

In spite of 11 new players, after the Olympics, the Dutch managed to beat China in the opener.

Holland warned with an Ellen Hoog shot, well saved by the Chinese keeper, in the first minute of the match.

The Asian team started to press Holland close to their back row and the Europeans appeared imprecise.

China produced their first shot at goal, in the seventh minute, when a hit by Quingling Song was just wide.

Holland played in retreatment, feeding their forwards with long crosses to create good counter-attacks.

The Asian team produced the best chances through their captain, Wanfeng Zhou, while "The Orange" reached their rival goal with shots by Hoog and Miek van Geenhuizen.

Holland reacted after half-time, pressing China hard throughout their lines obliging them to committ mistakes.

After several options, Fuchs diverted a free-hit in the edge of the circle to open the score, in the 52nd minute.

Seven minutes later, Lammers sealed the 2-0 victory with a strong shot.
