Third victory in a row for Germany

Germany obtained their third victory in a row by defeating China 2-1 in the third day of the 12th women's Champions Trophy at the Jockey Club of Rosario on Tuesday.

With this result, the Olympic champions lead the standings with full points after three matches.

Germany played as usual, defending excellently in group to counter-attack fast. Thus, Nadine Ernsting-Krienke opened the score - in the fourth minute - from a deflection.

From then on, China attacked fast and accurate - specially through outstanding Baorong Fu and Shuang Li, but the solid German back row along with a good performance by keeper Yvonne Frank prevented the equalizer.

In the last minute of the first half, another fast advance by the Olympic champion through Kerstin Hoyer finished in a right cross that Ernsting-Krienke again capitalized on for the 2-0 lead.

China attacked from the very start after half-time, pushing hard their rivals. But Germany defended well throughout the field. However, the skillful Chinese forwards finally penetrated the European back row, getting a penalty corner that Lihua Gao capitalized on from a rebound, in the 50th minute.
