Argentina equal Holanda, but still have chances

The women's Argentine team and Holland played for a goalless draw in the last match of the fourth day of the 12th Champions Trophy on Thursday at the Jockey Club.

With the 0-0, Holland and Germany lead the standings with 10 points, while Argentina have seven, Australia three, New Zealand two and China one.

Holland placed a double defensive barrier with Janneke Schopman located like a lock ahead the three-defensive line.

Then, Argentina had serious problems to penetrate the Orange back row. The European also added a tough marking in midfield, specially over talented Luciana Aymar.

Until the 20th minute, the chances had been produced by Holland such as a shot by Naomi van As, which hit Antoniska's right post, seven minutes from the start.

Eight minutes later, the first Holland's penalty corner through Kim Lammers was saved in style by the Argentine goalie.

Finally, Argentina could break Holland's defensive resistance to reach the circle twice with a flick by Cecilia Rognoni, well saved by the Dutch keeper Eveline De Haan, in the 25th minute, and a minute later, Natalí Doreski deflected a reverse shot.

Close to the final, another flick by Rognoni was saved by the rival goalie and in the last minute, Antoniska saved her goal again stopping a penalty corner by Lammers.

There was not goal chances during the first 10 minutes of the second half, but from then on Argentina started to press their rivals, increasing also their rhythm, though the Dutch defence saved Argentina's attacks well.

Argentina got their first penalty corner, in the 55th minute, losing an incredible goal when Inés Arrondo failed alone in front of the Dutch goal after a cross from Vanina Oneto.
