What they said after Netherlands v Germany final

Netherlands
Marc Lammers, entrenador

On the match
“It wasn't a rematch for us because half of my team hadn't played the Olympics. We are happier to have won the Champions Trophy that beating Germany. We attacked a lot, we are still not great with the penalty corners”.

On other coaches' retirements
“For me it's a pity that Cacho and David Bell are retiring. They are good friends of mine. I'm sure Argentina will have a good coach. Both are great coaches and I hope they go on with male teams”.

On the Junior World Cup in Chile
“We have four or five players that can go to the Junior World Cup, we want them to go because it's very important for them to play with players their same age. It'll be a bit difficult because before that we have the European Championship”.

On being the champions of the tournament
“We didn't expect to win. In international tournaments pressure is always a key factor. We didn't have that pressure, Argentina and Germany had it. This is good for people with less experience because they are more relaxed to play ”.

On Argentina
“I've come to Argentina 15 or 16 times, mainly when I was coaching Spain. I'm happy to be here because many people like hockey and there is a great atmosphere. It's a very nice country, my players love it here when it's winter time in Netherlands. The organization of this tournament was very good, the club, the pitch, everything”.

Germany
Markus Weise, coach

On the match
“We didn't win but I think we didn't deserve to win, the players were very tired. It's been a long year. You have to be very strong and stable mentally to play two finals and win them both. It wasn't that we failed in the physical aspect but we were not really focused in the match. I'm satisfied with the performance of my team we won 3, drew 2 and lost only one, that's a good balance”.

On the possibility of retiring
“I hope to go on coaching this team. On my part, I want to have a rest when the players arrived in Germany the hockey there is about to start. In January they'll start the physical training and I'll meet them again in March for field training and get ready for the Four Nations tournament, Spain and the European Cup.
